Want to know the most straightforward instructions for a beautiful Thanksgiving table setting? We’re following Ina Garten’s lead and breaking down the three simple details you need for a perfect Thanksgiving table.
We love how Ina has a magical way of making elegant things seem simple (and the other way around, too). We’re huge fans of all her recipes, but when we found this old Instagram post where she outlines her three-ingredient Thanksgiving table, we were blown away again by her effortless touch.
Ina says, “It’s never too early to plan your Thanksgiving table! It doesn’t have to be fancy, but at this time of year, I like a little color and one pretty plate to give the setting some style.”
3 Simple Steps To a Beautiful Thanksgiving Table Setting
1. A Solid Table Cloth
Tablecloths have been a staple for elegant meals for decades. Using a solid color instantly sets the tone for a fun meal, giving you an easy scheme to work with when trying to pull everything together. Plus, it helps protect your table and makes clean-up easy! While some might call white boring, we love that it allows the color of the harvest meal to pop. Plus, it’s somewhat unexpected since your guests haven’t seen it a million times.
Want to bring in color with your tablecloth, we say go for it! Our advice to bring in that warm autumn feeling on a more elegant level would be to go monochrome. Pick a few colors to work with and then run from there. It will help rein in your choices and make things all jive together.
2. Fun Accent Plates
Special or seasonal dinnerwear is a splurge, but it makes sense if you use it year after year. A more budget-friendly route is if you get fun accent plates and use your regular white dinner plates underneath. The layering looks upscale, but you only have to buy a few smaller items to change the look.
To make your life easier, we went on the hunt (in the highly over-assorted plate universe) for beautiful accent plates that would look stunning for Thanksgiving but could also work great for special occasions throughout the year. We feel like the lovely food of the Thanksgiving meal will transform all these plates to feel very thanksgiving without being too literal!!
3. Flowers
A centerpiece that adds color, texture, fragrance, and gravitas? One nice bouquet! A low, full bouquet gives the table a fancy look you need for a meal like Thanksgiving. Simple, classic, and effective! Make sure you order now for delivery 1-2 days before Thanksgiving, so you ensure you get the arrangement you want, you get the delivery date you want, AND you can cross this detail off your to-do list!!
