Looking for the best teacher gifts? We are only a few weeks away from one of the most important days of the year — Teacher Appreciation Day, coming up on May 8, 2023. To help make sure you and your family are ready to express your gratitude to the teachers in your lives, we’re rounding up the best teacher GIFTS THAT THEY WILL WANT!
A Card Saying Thank You
Write a note from both the parent and an age-appropriate note from your kid.
For your note as the parent, share something you appreciate about the way they do their job, so they feel seen and valued. Share something specific about what they did to help your kid grow – that will touch them.
Make sure it’s age-appropriate for your kid’s note and something they DO. For the young kids, their handprints or own drawings would be perfect. For older kids, have them write a note of their own that expresses what they appreciate about their teacher.

A+ Gifts —
A Useful Gift
We’ve learned (after collecting feedback from friends and family that are teachers!) that a gift card is one of the best ways to say thank you. A gift card (or cash!) to Amazon, Target, or their favorite coffee shop.
This might sound boring, but what teachers want and need could seem “boring,” like a new vacuum cleaner, groceries, or a night out with friends — give them the gift that lets them have exactly what they want.
If you don’t want to do a gift card, focus on the gift being beautiful and aligned to their personality, I promise it doesn’t have to have an apple or, say, “teacher” for them to like it. Speaking for my family and friends in education, they don’t need any more “cute” things with apples or quotes about teachers’ critical role in our society.
+ BUD VASE — How sweet is this set of three bud vases for only $36. They would be perfect to enjoy in their home or on their desk.
+ A COOL TOTE — We love the idea of a tote bag that they could use to carry all their books and paperwork to and from school (or to enjoy during the weekend/summer!) This WATERPROOF ONE (that you can monogram) is perfect because it’s durable and doesn’t strain. Or this STRAW BAG for only 29.99 is a fantastic option too!
+ A CANDLE — No points for originality, but who doesn’t love a lovely-smelling home? THIS ONE is my all-time favorite scent, with THIS ONE a very close second.
+ SHOP LOCAL — Finally, what about a dozen hot bagels, a gift card to a local restaurant, or something sweet from a shop in your town? All of these would be so welcome.
Extra Credit —
Teacher Appreciation Day is Monday, but some schools celebrate their teachers that whole week — from Monday, May 8th through Friday, May 12th. If you have the capacity, reach out to your school PTO/PTA/Class Mom or call the administrative staff at the school to get the details and see how you can provide support. Most schools usually cater lunch on one day, and some schools offer special snacks or breakfasts for the teachers/staff on the other days. So depending on what’s happening, maybe help with ordering/buying the food or help set up/serve/clean up one of the days!
Thanks for checking out our recommendations for the best teacher gifts. I hope we helped you find something thoughtful for the teachers in your life this year.
