Life can feel like a lot sometimes — between the kids, work, school, household chores, activities, celebrations, the list (luckily!) goes on and on — and sometimes we need to slow down. My favorite way to hit the recharge button is to get away and go on my “brain vacations.” I love a hot shower, slipping into my pajamas, cozying up in my bed early, and escaping into a fun, easy book.
Here are the ones I’ve read recently and literally COULD.NOT.PUT.DOWN. Big warning that some of these are addicting, so don’t start if you have a big deadline, ha!
Book Lovers
I had the biggest book hangover when this was over — I missed the characters and wanted to devour another book and follow them further along in their lives — witty, unapologetically confident heroin, romantic tension. So so good. Favorite book from 2023! Don’t trust me — try me!
One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming…
People We Meet on Vacation
After reading Book Lovers, I went on an Emily Henry binge. Her character development, pacing, and ability to make her stories come to life are just SUCH A TREAT.
“Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.“
Every Summer After
I read this book within 24 hours. It sucked me in from page one, and I couldn’t put it down — until I finished it well into the early morning hours. I can’t believe this is the author’s first book — I sure hope she writes another!
Six summers to fall in love. One moment to fall apart. A weekend to get it right.
Nora Goes Off Script
I couldn’t put this book down and got sucked in right away. As the cover says — it’s irresistible, addictive, and deliciously romantic!
Nora’s life is about to get a rewrite…
It Ends with Us
This book is so great — another page-turner I read within two days. This book was so beautiful but also covered a difficult topic that I found hard to read at points — but I feel like it opened my (naive) eyes, which I’m grateful for. I found myself smiling ear to ear and also feeling heartbroken at other points.
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
It Starts With Us
This is the continuation of the story “It Ends with Us,” so I naturally couldn’t resist reading these two. Honestly, it was great, and I also couldn’t put it down since I was so invested in the characters, but it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Still nice to have a little more time with these characters, though! Make sure you read “It Ends with Us” First.
So there you have it, my first go at sharing books I’ve loved; I hope you choose to go on a brain vacation with one of these great ones very, very soon! You deserve it!!
What books have you read recently that you loved? I’d love for you to share in the comments so I can add them to my reading list!! Xx Meg
