What’s on your spring bucket list? I love lazy spring weekends with nothing on the schedule except but know that in order to create memories, you have to be intentional. Here are 12 low-key things we’re hoping to do this spring (and I’d love to hear yours!)
Give kids a disposable camera. One of our friends gave each of her kids a disposable camera to document their day, and I think it’s such a genius idea. My kids will go crazy for them, and I can’t wait to see what funny shots they take!
Fly a kite. On a breezy, sunny spring day, get your kids outside and let them chase kites. (Do you have a kite? This one is the easier for kids to fly, this one is also easy to fly and super cute, okay and one more because how cute is this fox kite that is also easy to fly?)
Pick berries. Enjoy picking strawberries at a local farm and then make strawberry shortcakes.
Plant a garden with your kids. Pick up a few seed packets at your local garden store and try your hand at growing herbs, flowers, or vegetables with your kids.
Have a water balloon fight. Get ready for the kids to get wet. They will be lots of running around and squealing! Grab these easy fill water ballons, and then on a warm day, invite some friends and family over for a water balloon battle!
Catch the opening game of a sport you love. Opening games are exciting whether you’re an avid fan or a first-time attendee. Look up when your local or home team’s opening game is and buy tickets!
Arrange Flowers. Enjoy being outside and enjoying the beautiful outdoors, and then pick a few of your favorite flowers to bring home then and arrange them into a beautiful bouquet. (or try your hand at flower pressing and turn your flower into a special piece of art!)
Play in the rain. One of my most cherished childhood memories was one day when my friends and I ran all around the neighborhood, jumping in every puddle we could find, dancing in the rain, and just being silly. In later spring, once it’s no longer cold, let your kids enjoy jumping in all the puddles and playing in the rain.
Raise your own butterflies My sweet aunt and cousin did this last year and her retelling of the experience was magical.
Have your first meal of the year al fresco. Make meal memories. Clean your outdoor furniture and enjoy eating dinner in the crisp cool air as a family.
Enjoy a late(r) night around the firepit roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Bonus points for a curated playlist or putting out your own guitar and jamming.
Visit your local arboretum and marvel at nature’s blooms. Visit a local garden or arboretum and enjoy all the beautiful flowers (you didn’t have to grow). We like to bring a blanket, books and our favorite snacks to enjoy after we walk around, but aren’t done soaking in the natural beauty.
