When it comes to essentials, nothing tops the list quite like a great pair (or three) of denim. It’s the ultimate workhorse of my wardrobe. And with denim silhouettes changing so much, it’s hard to know where to start.
While I certainly have my tried-and-true favorites (these!), the truth is, even when I land on a new pair that comes as close to perfect as it gets, I’m still on the hunt for the next best ones (considering these for spring).
Looking for your next best pair? This list might help. Read on for a peek at the jeans I’m living in right now.
Citizens of Humanity Charlotte High Rise Straight Jeans
These jeans are very flattering on, especially the rear pocket placements and the way they sort of skim — but don’t cling to your legs. They are a great straight-leg, high-rise cut, and I am obsessed with the wash. They look both contemporary and classic (not skinny, because as we are told, that’s out now) but not one of the wider legs that are dominating street style. A perfect compromise!
Sizing Note — I wear my small size, but they don’t have any stretch, so if you are between sizes, I would recommend sizing up for a more comfortable (all-day) fit.
Levi’s Ribcage Straight-Leg Jeans
Many of you are familiar with my love affair with the Ribcage style from Levi’s. These are for those of us who love a super high-rise (read: very flattering), don’t care for stretch, and want to remain incredibly comfortable. And the best part, they ring in at just over $100.
Sizing note — Size up 1-2 from your normal size. Levi’s run small!!
Agolde High Rise Straight Crop Jeans
I think I bought these jeans nearly two years ago, and I still consider them one of my favorite pairs. They hit all the right marks for me: high-rise, straight-but-slim cut, and the perfect length. The raw hem makes them feel a little more relaxed — which I like — because we all just want to be cool moms, am I right? They don’t have stretch, but they’re still comfortable.
Sizing note — I take my normal size, but if you are between sizes, I’d recommend sizing up!
