It feels like every other week, I’m wrapping a gift for a child’s birthday party, a hostees, a wedding, etc., and while I don’t get it right every time, I’ve learned that a little presentation goes a long way. I always think of my Aunt Judy, a magical, creative person who made everything special. She taught me that you can make even the smallest detail exciting through thoughtful presentation. One of her greatest secrets was a great ribbon. She always had a beautiful collection of satin ribbon she could pull from to make even the tiniest gift feel special and thoughtful.
Other items she always kept on hand —
+ Multiple Sizes of Cello Bags — including THE WINE SIZE and SMALLER SIZE (great for a luxe beauty product that you want to present a little more dramatically than gift wrapping a tiny lip stick!)
+ Lots of ribbons — In all the different textures and patterns. We love THIS BRAND FOR VELVET, THIS BRAND FOR SATIN (fun fact: they used to be the ribbon for Olympic medals, how fun is that!), and THIS TRADITIONAL RIBBON SET for all your kid’s birthday parties.
+ Gift Wrap Tape — Listen, I’ll admit I’ve wrapped a gift with packaging tape, but it wasn’t my finest hour. Now I always make sure we have SCOTCH GIFT WRAP TAPE. I know, I know why you might ask, but it really is more transparent than your typical Scotch tape so you’re less likely to notice it on your gift wrap. THE BEST GIFT WRAP CUTTER and a pair of good scissors!
+ Gift Tags — I have a weakness for beautiful paper products and have to really hold myself back; otherwise, I’d buy every gift tag on the market, but a few of my favorites are THESE, THESE, and THESE.
+ Gift Wrap — Our favorite brand of gift wrap is RIFLE PAPER. This PARTY ANIMAL PATTERN is so cute for kids, and I love THIS FLORAL, that works great for a range of celebrations! Rifle Paper always runs a black friday promotion, so I’m hoping to buy THIS SET OF THREE ROLLS for the holidays then. I also love the SUGAR PAPER X TARGET LINE. They are similar in style to Rifle paper but half the price — making them great for the holidays when you are going through a lot of paper! Finally, I also try to always have a few GIFT BAGS and TISSUE PAPER on hand.
+ Cards — Our favorite card brand is EFRANCES. They have the most beautiful cards for almost every occasion and vibe, bringing me so much joy. We always stock up on our favorites for free shipping, so we aren’t making a quick stop at the card store on our way to the gathering.
A couple of my current go-to gifts:
+ HOUSEWARMING — A CHAPPYWRAP BLANKET, COLORED WINE GLASSES OR A BEAUTIFUL TABLE CLOTH
+ WEDDING GIFT — THESE PERSONALIZED POTTERY BOWLS ARE ONE OF A KIND AND HANDMADE IN GEORGA. WE WERE GIVEN THIS, AND IT’S BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE PIECES.
+ BAPTISM — BIBLICAL AFFIRMATION CARDS, a card, and money.
+ BABY SHOWER — FOOTIES FROM KISSY KISSY (I USUALLY BUY 6-9 MONTHS) AND A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOKS (HERE, HERE, HERE).
+ NEWBORN — THIS TEDDY BEAR, BEDTIME BOOKS (HERE, HERE, HERE), AND SWEET BABY CLOTHES FROM KISSY KISSY (I ALWAYS BUY 6-9 MONTHS OR EVEN 9 MONTHS BECAUSE I FOUND EVERYONE GIVES YOU NEWBORN AND 3-6 MONTHS, AND IT’S WAS REALLY NICE TO HAVE A FEW SPECIAL THINGS AS THE KIDS GROW)
+ BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS — A SWEET ORNAMENT
+ BIRTHDAY GIFTS — LAKE PAJAMAS (these pjs are so lux and cozy) or a fancy beauty product (LIKE THIS SET)
+ HOUSE GUEST HOSTESS — A PUZZLE, THIS CANDLE, or a CHAPPYWRAP BLANKET
+ PARTY HOSTESS — We often wrap a BOTTLE OF WINE with a seasonal TEA TOWEL. We also love these WINE GLASS CHARMS or A NICE CHEESE BOARD. If it’s a super casual get-together, we love to bring ice cream sandwiches. The hostess can serve (to the kids or everyone!) after dinner or slip into their freezer for next time!
