It’s that time of year when we all spend countless hours trying to create the perfect gifts for toddlers. With the crazy supply chain and labor shortages, it’s essential to order your gifts EARLY (like really EARLY) to ensure the presents are under the tree from Santa.
So, here’s a peek at all the things we are eyeing and buying for the season!!
Christmas Gift Ideas \ The Toddler Edit
In preparing to write this article, I asked myself, “how many presents are the right amount of presents to give my kid(s)”? I found this article and thought it was such a great framework (backed by recent studies) to think about gifts for our family this year and for years to come. It points to the benefits of giving your kids fewer toys. It inspired me to organize this gift guide to follow the 5 Gift Rule For Christmas.
I also came across this article in my Instagram feed, and it stopped me in my tracks, so I thought I’d share to help keep us all grounded in a season that makes it so easy to get carried away.
Now, without further ado, here are our Christmas gift ideas for toddlers. We hope this framework and our curated gift ideas for each parameter helps you find the perfect gift(s) for those you love on your list this year!!
Something They Want | The big-ticket present!
- my kids saw this KidKraft Ice Cream Wonder Van in real life, and they were mesmerized! they are still talking about it!
- A tool bench. We love this one + this one and think this belt would be a great add-on too!
- Barbie Dream House, enough said!
- this lovable puppy is one of the top gifts of the year — and for a good reason! He’s got an animated face and responds to kids’ voices and touch with more than 150 reactions. In addition to voice and touch commands, Moji has a smart collar with a color screen that displays different animated emojis to communicate what he’s thinking. Wow!
- The paw patrol transforming tower! The three-foot-tall building has six pup toy figures, a Chase cruiser, and a mini clip-on backpack. You can launch pups down the ramp, push the buttons for sounds and lights, and send pups up to the command center via the tower elevator.
- these are the coolest trucks they will ever have! we especially like this one and this one, but they have so many great designs! They make these trucks in Germany with such incredible quality and detail, and the parts are fully functional so that they will have endless hours of play!
- Is your kid or someone you love obsessed with their LOL collection? Then, this lol dream house is the perfect gift!
- Okay, these electric cars are a bit extra, but my kids have enjoyed HOURS and HOURS of play in their cars. Pro-tip: make sure you get a remote control version, so you aren’t chasing them around while they learn to drive!
- We discovered this padded speaker, called toniebox, and are obsessed! Each toniebox comes with a couple of well-known figures like Elsa from Frozen, Peppa Pig, and Chase from Paw Patrol. When you place the figure on top of the box, it initiates a story that kids can listen to and engage with. Experts are saying, “It fosters imagination, creativity, seeing things in your mind’s eye and building the skills of listening.” So this one will be under our tree!
- Baby dolls + all the stuff to make their play come to life! We are obsessed with corolle dolls in this house! M has a few of the dolls, and both she and Welles LOVE playing with them. I’m obsessed because their vanilla sent is just perfect. We got a few of these last Christmas, and Millie loves them so much she wants a few more dolls and accessories!
Something They Need | Hobby item, sports equipment, educational, necessity
- a scooter to work on their balance and burn off their energy. We got this for M + W last year and spend hours on them still.
- Beautiful brush markers to encourage the artist in them.
- An incredible sensory kit is a great gift and will guarantee hours of explorative play for a toddler. these kits truly capture young imaginations! and their playdough smells i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e!
- A piggy bank! Three piggy banks!! I was catching up with a great friend, and she shared (what I think!) is such an incredible idea. Instead of just having one piggy bank, they will have three. One is for saving, one is for spending (to buy those toys!), and another is to save to give to others. Every time they do an extra chore or earn money, they have to put money in each jar. They can decide the amount for each, but we think this is such a great idea and can’t wait to start it with M! in terms of piggy banks, we like these, these and these!
- For all the creative projects, we love this arts + crafts library! Not only do we think the kids will die over all the options, but we also love that it makes stocking your skills + crafts draws super easy!!
- It’s as easy as riding a bike! We love the idea of giving them their first bike for Christmas! Depending on their level/exact age, we love this classic tricycle, this strider bike + this tri that turns into a stride bike, or this beautiful balance bike!
- A cash register! Do we need to say more! s.o. f.u.n!!
- wooden see and spell match letter puzzles – these seem like a fun way to play while teaching them sight reading, the foundation to reading!
- Help them learn the letters of the alphabet in a fun, sensory-driven way! This magnetic toy feels like it makes letter tracing FUN for your kiddo!
Something To Wear | clothing, shoes, name-brand, accessories
- can a little girl ever have too many bows, like really? (asking for a friend!) we love wee ones bows in our house. They have such great colors, and their bows stay in the hair without damaging their delicate hair.
- I’m dying over this sweater! The perfect navy stripes would look great on a boy or a girl, and it would be perfect for a warmer cover-up on cool winter nights down south or a great layer piece for those of us up north.
- We are (as you can tell!) obsessed with these pajamas. So soft, beautifully made, and just so perfect!
- make bath time memorable with these super-soft bath towels (our kids are growing out of their current towels!) or this great bathrobe (which M has been asking for!)
- If you live in a little warmer weather, we think these dress pajamas are just the sweetest.thing.ever!
- this j.crew mock turtle neck is so.dang.cute! M tried it on in the store, and I died over how cute she looked. We put it back once I looked at the price tag, but it would be a perfect Christmas gift! These j.crew sweaters are also beyond the beyond cute and have a better price point!
- We love these baseball caps! They come in so many great colors and are just the best. Our kids love them and never ask to take them off!
Something To Read | book, magazines
- this eric carle electric reader is so much fun. It comes with great books and is an entertaining way to make reading more interactive!
- We are obsessed with five-minute stories in our house. The way my kids read them reminds me of Netflix; they always say, “this one, one more!” just like “next episode.”
- We’re a massive fan of Bernstein Bears – and this storybook collection includes the best of the best ones!
- Mickey and Minnie are classic, and it comes, and their stories stand the test of time. I could read these stories over and over again to my kids without getting tired of them!
- This sesame street book has lots of great little lessons, probably best for the younger-aged toddlers on your list!

Something To Do | GAME, outing, adventure, active
- puzzles are such fun activities to do with the kiddos; we love this puzzle, this puzzle, and this puzzle in our house. The perfect challenge without being discouraging for our littles.
- Duplo blocks by lego have been such a fun addition to our toy boxes — and we honestly can’t get enough! So we are eying this town world animals set.
- More puzzles, we love this ariel puzzle and think this is an excellent round-up of kid-friendly puzzles!
- Alright, so we won’t get any original points for this one, but manga tiles are so, so good, and everyone should have a set in their house! Fun for the entire family!!
- For adventures, we love the idea of a membership to your local children’s museum, zoo, aquarium, or amusement park.
- Last but not least, we love the idea of tickets to a baseball, basketball, hockey, football game, sesame street, paw patrol live, and Disney on ice.
There you have it; a peek inside what is on our lists and in our shopping carts this year. We hope we inspired you and helped you cross a few people off your list. As always, we are so grateful for your support and being part of this community!
