You guys! How are we rounding the corner to 2023 already? With the New Year comes the age-old conversation around New Year’s Resolutions or New Year’s Intentions. And while I’m always skeptical of the big overcorrection we can all try to make with New Year’s Resolutions, I love the opportunity to take a step back and set new goals.
Although I love the feel of New Year’s Intentions, and it’s lovely to find a word that you have as your North Star for the year, I crave the structure and accountability of setting quarterly goals to achieve and habits to form. I’ve found that setting quarterly goals is the perfect duration for attaining your goals and developing new habits. It’s short enough to allow the flexibility to pivot (as the inevitable change bubbles up) and long enough to drive real change that you can be accountable to and build upon.
Each quarter I set a goal to achieve and a habit to form for three categories. For example, personal (fitness, physical health, relationships), financial, professional, academic, etc. I find that this focus ensures I avoid being unrealistic and allows me to focus on actually achieving my three goals and establishing three new habits that become my natural rhythm. Then, I can build on the success/momentum for Q2, Q3, and the end of the year.
Our calendar plan will keep you focused, on time, and on task — and remove the busy work it takes to hold yourself accountable.
I also am sharing a goal-setting printable that will give you the framework to set your goals and habits. Finally, the tracker to keep you honest and motivated is included. I love the feeling of checking off my habits and seeing my little progress every day build the consistency that gets me closer to my new habits becoming part of my routine/rhythm,
What goals and habits do you want to set for yourself to start the year off strong? I’d love to hear in the comments. Let’s make this our best year yet, friends!!
